Established in 2017, Sonya Co-Founded Rare Byrd Review to showcase the talent found in junior and senior high schools.

There are journals for undergraduate students, professors, acclaimed writers, and so many more people who already have their footing in the literary world. But where does their writing often start?  At a young age.

Rare Byrd Review is dedicated to showcasing the talent found in junior and senior high schools. Young writers, artists, and photographers have voices that are new, profound, bold, and yearning to be heard. Rare Byrd believes that all voices deserved to be heard and works to give those voices a platform.

Issues are published bi-annually. The Summer Issue is published in August. The Winter Issue is published in February of every year. You can read all previously published issues here.

Rare Byrd Review is open 365 days a year for submissions and will consider submissions received between the deadlines for the for upcoming issues. Simultaneous submissions are encouraged!
